About “Youth in Disorder”

YOUTH IN DISORDER started in 2018 as a no-budget video project to help educate the public on what the “Troubled Teen” Industry is, where it came from, and why so many thousands of of children have been harmed. The process of researching and creating this project led me to a better understanding of the wide scope of this industry, the systemic issues, and how children and families in crisis have been exploited. Learning all of this gave me a determination to use art, writing, and video to make clear and accessible content in order to raise public awareness of Institutional Child Abuse.

Why “DISORDER”?

For the DISORDER of the industry which has harmed countless children.

For the DISORDER of the childhoods that kids sent into this industry experience.

For the DISORDERS we label our kids with, so often without first learning about or addressing the trauma or environments which lead them to struggle.

Institutional Child Abuse has left generations of injured youth to suffer in chaotic, disordered, and harmful situations. The future of healing this is through trauma informed, compassionate, and community-based care.
